How to Prepare for an Arkansas AUXCOMM Class

These steps assume a student has only an Amateur Radio License and has not done any of the self-study Incident Command System (ICS) courses. Independent Study (IS) 100, 200, 700, and 800 are required to take the AUXCOMM Course. The goal is to have the volunteer be National Incident Management System (NIMS) compliant. You may skip any step you have already completed.  Affiliation with a served response agency is also necessary and will not be addressed here.

  1. You must obtain a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Student Identification Number (SID).  https://cdp.dhs.gov/femasid/register
  2. The current version of 100 is IS-100.C. You may do the Interactive Web Based Course or Download Classroom Materials, and take the Final Exam Here:  https://training.fema.gov/is/courseoverview.aspx?code=IS-100.c&lang=en
  3. The current version of 200 is IS-200.C.  You may do the Interactive Web Based Course or Download Classroom Materials, and take the Final Exam Here:  https://training.fema.gov/is/courseoverview.aspx?code=IS-200.c&lang=en
  4. The current version of 700 is IS-700.B.  You may do the Interactive Web Based Course or Download Classroom Materials, and take the Final Exam Here:  https://training.fema.gov/is/courseoverview.aspx?code=IS-700.b&lang=en
  5. The current version of 800 is IS-800.D.  You may do the Interactive Web Based Course or Download Classroom Materials, and take the Final Exam Here:  https://training.fema.gov/is/courseoverview.aspx?code=IS-800.d&lang=en
  6. Once all the ICS classes are completed, you may register for the AUXCOMM class of your choosing.  Note that since these classes are state-sponsored, reimbursement for lodging and per diem are available subject to the rules.  The Schedule is here: https://www.dps.arkansas.gov/wp-content/uploads/ADEM-TRAINING-SCHEDULE-5.pdf
  7. This is the registration page:  https://www.dps.arkansas.gov/emergency-management/adem/training-exercise/training/class-registration-request/
  8. You will receive an email giving you further instructions.  Be aware that prior registration is necessary.  If you require further information, please contact training@adem.arkansas.gov .

Thank you for your interest in serving your community.  Our hope is to build a cadre of emergency management volunteers in every County.  Let us know how we might assist you to become a valuable and trained volunteer.
