You can leave your mask on

The Spa club will hold its September club meeting on September 14 at 6pm. Per Joe Cocker Judge Darryl Mahoney, you can leave your mask on to enter the building. We will have masks, hand sanitizer and ‘social distancing’ available for those that want to attend. We may have to go back to a ZOOM type meeting in the future, but we will get folk’s opinion before NEXT month on what the majority want to do.

How does your garden grow?

Well, maybe not your garden, but how do we grow the amateur radio hobby? Is there a way that our club can assist in starting a school club in a local high school? Come join us in discussing this and much more at our August meeting.

Field Day 2021

Past SARA Field Day Setup

ARRL Field Day is the single most popular on-the-air event held annually in the US and Canada.

On the fourth FULL weekend of June of each year, more than 35,000 radio amateurs gather with their clubs, groups or simply with friends to operate from remote locations.

It is a time where many aspects of Amateur Radio come together to highlight our many roles. While some will treat it as a contest, other groups use the opportunity to practice their emergency response capabilities. It is an excellent opportunity to demonstrate Amateur Radio to the organizations that Amateur Radio might serve in an emergency, as well as the general public.

SARA will be participating in Field Day 2021 from the Hot Springs Airport (Memorial Field) located at 525 Airport Road. If you will be in the Hot Springs area, join us! We’re planning a multi-transmitter setup on HF with opportunities for visitors to get on the air. Operating hours will be Saturday, June 26 from 12 p.m. – 5 p.m. (approximately). Setup will begin around 10am. Our talk-in frequency is 146.880- (PL 114.8).

WB5SPA DMR Repeater Usage

DMR Repeater Information

To access the WB5SPA DMR repeater, you must set your radio to Color Code 2, positive offset +5 MHz (Your radio should be set to receive on 442.350 and transmit on 447.350.)

Time Slot 1

Time slot 1 is currently set to have two static talk groups – 31051 and 31052.  These are alternately used for Arkansas Severe Weather.

Time slot 1 may also be used for connection to any talk group on the Brandmeister network.

This time slot is for general use.  When you key up on an unlinked talk group, that talk group will be added as a dynamic talk group which will automatically unlink after 10 minutes of inactivity.  To force an unlink, key up on group 4000 on time slot 1 which will unlink all current dynamic talk groups.

Time Slot 2

Time slot 2 is currently set to have one static talk group:  311575 – Hot Springs Local

From time to time, time slot 2 may also be linked to talk group 310150 – Royal Local.

This time slot is exclusively for local talk group traffic.  Please do not change the connection to any other talk groups.
