NEW AGE CW PDF Print E-mail
This article quickly describes using your PC as a learning aid when learning CW. When referring to PC use in CW training, there are different types of learning.

  • Monitoring and copying real-life Morse QSO
  • Morse Keying
  • QSO and Psuedo QSO
  • Copying Morse Practice Transmissions

Regarding PC's there are Linux, Windows, and MAC operating sytems, this article is going to focus on Windows and Linux, mostly because that is what I have and I'm a huge fan of Linux / open source software anyway, as it really appeals to my hamish sensibilities. ;)

Let's get right to it and start with one of my favorite projects. This involves using a shortwave receiver, and a PC to locate and copy morse signals from the airwaves. Very simple really, we're going to let the computer listen to the incoming audio and it will decode the morse code into text. THIS IS NOT FLAWLESS, but it is fairly accurate, and fun.

Linux (Ubuntu)
